Fr. Gerald Brown, S.S
Welcome to our website and to St. Patrick’s Seminary and University. This coming year, we will be celebrating our 110th birthday. Over the decades, since our beginnings in 1898, St. Patrick’s has experienced many profound changes, often brought on by external crises, such as the Second World War and the War in Vietnam. Most often, despite inevitable anxieties, pain, and loss, what began as suffering and anguish led to substantial spiritual growth and a deeper sense of the type of priest needed for the times.

Today is no exception. Our times are truly challenging, marked as they are by cultural relativism, individualistic materialism, and religious emptiness. Many of our brothers and sisters feel lost. They long for a profound sense of meaning in life and a purpose-filled life. More than ever, we need Church leaders who can speak with intelligent compassion to the loneliness and stress of the times, who can bring the life-giving peace of our Lord Jesus to their brothers and sisters in a way that leads to personal self-discovery as men and women loved to their core by the Father of Jesus.

St. Patrick’s is here to prepare such spiritual leaders. Our mission in the Church is to prepare the best possible seminarians for priesthood, to encourage and strengthen brother priests through ongoing education and formation, and to help Permanent Deacons and lay leaders in the Church to achieve their God-given call in life. We do all of this in collaboration with many dioceses and religious communities and in dialogue with leaders of other denominations and faiths—all for the greater honor and glory of God.

Please, make yourself at home with our website. Feel free to visit us in person and to call with your observations and questions. God bless you!

Sincerely,

Rev. Gerald L. Brown, S.S.
