I greet you with good news about our beloved Seminary. For the past four years, we have been growing each year by three more students. Our total number of seminarians this year, including those on Pastoral Year, has been 99 (96 candidates representing 20 dioceses and three Conventual Franciscans). If this increase continues for three more years, we will be out of student rooms to house all of our seminarians in residence. This is a problem we do not mind facing!
Another piece of encouraging news is the creative growth in programs for the continuing education of priests and a wonderful bridge between initial and ongoing formation. We are hoping to put up much-needed new structures for continuing education that can also free up space for more seminarians.
We are also excited to be celebrating our first Annual Gala Dinner at the Archdiocese of San Francisco Saint Mary’s Cathedral on September 19, 2008. Look for more information soon.
