“From his Letters, we know that Paul was far from being a good speaker; on the contrary, he shared with Moses and Jeremiah a lack of oratory skill… The extraordinary apostolic results that he was able to achieve cannot, therefore, be attributed to brilliant rhetoric or refined apologetic and missionary strategies. The success of his apostolate depended above all on his personal involvement in proclaiming the Gospel with total dedication to Christ, a dedication that feared neither risk, difficulty, nor persecution.” (Pope Benedict XVI, Homily for First Vespers of the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, June 28, 2007)
Paul for Pastors

The Vatican II Institute for Clergy Formation is proud to offer Paul for Pastors, a five day workshop for priests, June 2-6, 2008. Developed in response to the proclamation by Pope Benedict XVI of the Year of St. Paul, the workshop is designed to assist priests in mining the pastoral insights of St. Paul and in making Paul more accessible to the people they serve. Paul for Pastors brings together a team of biblical scholars and theologians dedicated to seminary formation and pastoral excellence. The various presentations will acquaint participants with recent developments in Pauline studies and address Paul as a resource for prayer, preaching, and pastoral leadership. The workshop begins Monday afternoon, June 2 and concludes Friday noon, June 6. Wednesday afternoon and evening are free, allowing participants to enjoy the treasures of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Paul for Pastors is open to alumni of the Vatican II Institute sabbatical program, graduates of St. Patrick’s Seminary, and all interested priests. Alumni of St. Patrick’s Seminary and the Vatican II sabbatical program will receive a $50 discount on applications prior to April 1.
