On Thursday, Novermber 3, 2011 twenty one men at St. Patrick's were installed as acolytes.
Bishop Richard Garcia presided over the ceremony. In his homily he stressed the importance of the engaged heart in the life of the seminarian and future priest. What is necessary is a heart full of love for God and the people in order that more may see the face of Christ today.
He stressed that living a holy life as the Lord desires, enables us to lead the people, who desire the Lord, to know the love of God for them. In thanking Bishop Garcia, Fr. McKearney noted that the Bishop served as a faculty member at. St. Patrick's Seminary for seven years. The Bishop also served as a faculty member of St. Joseph's College Seminary in Mountain View and as the Director of Vocations for the newly established Diocese of San Jose.
