The Vatican II Institute for Clergy Formation hosted its initial program for priests, Continuing Formation from the Beginning, from August 30 through September 2.  Continuing Formation from the Beginning is designed to assist recently ordained priests who are approaching or who have recently begun their first assignment as a pastor or parish administrator.  The topics, which vary from year to year, are chosen to support and enrich the role of the priest as a spiritual leader in the parish.  Seventeen priests from six California dioceses participated in the workshop.

The topic for the 2010 workshop was “Church and Culture: Spiritual Leadership for a New Millennium.”  The focus of the workshop was on how to engage secular culture effectively as Christian leaders.  Presenters included Fr. Gladstone Stevens, S.S., Bishop-Elect Robert McElroy, Msgr. Jeremiah McCarthy, and Fr. James Myers, S.S.  Additional information about Continuing Formation from the Beginning can be found in the Vatican II Institute Programs section on this web site.
