The Vatican congregation for the clergy released in March 2012 a document for priests concerning their holiness in a time of increasing atheism. The message is positive in that priests have the potential to move the people of God back to hope in the power of God through their sacrifice and example. The document includes an examination of conscience useful for priests in a time of recovery of the priestly identiy and the unique holiness to which the priest is called. As the seminary year comes to a close and in light of Fr. Jose Rubio's final liturgical catechesis drawn from Acts 2:42 ("They [the disciples] devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.") the Vatican document attached here (Congregation for the Clergy Letter to Priests March 2012) can be a rich source for reflection in the summer days ahead. May the Risen Lord send the Holy Spirit that we all may be holy as He is holy.
