As we end this year of grace at St. Patrick's in this Year dedicated to Priests, we are grateful to God who has called us to the ministry of service and charity. As we say farewell to our fourth year and pastoral year men let us remember some important dates for the ordinandi.

Members of the Vietnamese Catholic community in the Bay Area sponsored a major fundraiser on May 2, 2010 on the campus of St. Patrick's.The idea came from Fr. Vincent Bui, S.S. (Dean of Students at the Seminary) and Mr. Vincent Duong, a local leader in the community.

On Friday, May 7, 2010, the fourth year class and three undergrates received their MA, MDiv, STB and BA degrees at St. Patrick's Seminary & University. Most of the men will be ordained priests within the next several weeks.

16 April 2010

Cardinal Man of Vietnam visited St. Patrick's Seminary & University and presented Fr. McKearney (President/Rector) with a monetary gift on behalf of the bishops' conference in Vietnam in gratitude for the acceptance and formation of Vietnamese candidates for priestly service in the United States.

On Ash Wednesday, February 17th, 2010, Bishop Francis Quinn, retired bishop of the Diocese of Sacramento, gave a day of recollection to the seminarians at St. Patrick's Seminary.  Bishop Quinn shared with us his insights and wisdom regarding priesthood.  At 88 years old, not only did he talk about the priesthood in the old days, but also mentioned the current culture of iPods and Lady Gaga.

On Tuesday evening March 2, 2010 Fr. Jim McKearney and Fr. Jim Myers presented “The Seminary: Initial and Ongoing Formation for Priests” to some 40 members of the Las Vegas chapter of Legatus – an organization of Catholic business professionals who in part claim as their mission “bringing Christ and our faith to the marketplace.” The evening began with a Mass celebrated by newly ordained Fr. John Assalone with Fr. Steve Hoffer (an alumnus of St. Patrick's and priest of the diocese), Fr. McKearney and Father Myers concelebrating.

On Tuesday February 8, 2010 the community at St. Patrick's will honor the Oblate Sisters of Jesus the Priest. The Oblate Sisters have for many years now been praying for vocations and supporting the seminary and the Vatican II Institute programs. This annual celebration gives the administration, faculty, staff and seminarians an opportunity to thank the Sisters for their presence and ministry.

On Friday, February 5^th, people from all around the BayArea gathered at the Leavey Center at Santa Clara University to cheer for their favorite priests and seminarians.  After a prayer led by Bishop Patrick McGrath, the 4^th annual Revs vs. Sems began with the crowd cheering, “Go Sems!  Go Revs!”  The Revs dominated the game early on and never looked back.
