Church 037
The St. Patrick’s Center for Ongoing Priestly Formation has its roots in the Vatican II Institute forClergy Formation which was established in 1973. The original three-month program was a holistic renewal program designed to help priests in Region XI (California, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii) better understand, integrate, and implement the vision and teachings of the Second Vatican Council. From1973 until 2012, over 2,000 priests from throughout the United States and the English-speaking world participated in this distinctive and highly-respected sabbatical program.

In May of 2013 the Center for Ongoing Priestly Formation became the ongoing formation arm of St. Patrick's Seminary & University. The mission of the Center embraces three important goals:
  •  Ongoing formation of priests, particularly in the early years of their pastoral ministry
  •  Collaboration with diocese of Region XI and the Western United States in developing and implementing effective ongoing formation programs that serve the current needs of priests
  •  Strengthening the vital link between initial and ongoing formation of priests
